Instructions
- Mix together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- Whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, frying until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Remove the beignets from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
