- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- Vegetable oil (for frying, as needed)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and sugar. Whisk well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together orange juice, orange zest, egg, and milk until smooth.
- Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients and stir until just blended. Do not over mix.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove fritters and drain on paper towels. Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with glaze.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. They reheat beautifully.
