Ingredients

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil (for frying, as needed)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and sugar. Whisk well.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together orange juice, orange zest, egg, and milk until smooth.
  3. Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients and stir until just blended. Do not over mix.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Remove fritters and drain on paper towels. Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with glaze.
