Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups All-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 tablespoon Instant yeast
- 1/2 cup Milk, warmed
- 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, softened
- 4 Large eggs
- 1 Egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Stir these dry ingredients well to ensure even distribution.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the warmed milk and eggs until fully blended.
- Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Gradually add the softened butter to the mixture, then knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap or a towel and let it rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, which should take about 1 to 2 hours.
- Once risen, punch down the dough to release any air bubbles and shape it into a loaf.
- Place the shaped dough into a greased loaf pan and cover it again. Allow it to rise for another 30 to 45 minutes until puffed.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brush the top of the dough with a beaten egg for a beautiful golden crust.
- Bake the brioche for 30 to 35 minutes or until it is golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Let the loaf cool completely in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Allow enough time for the dough to rise fully for the best texture. Use almond milk for a dairy-free option.
