Milk Brioche is a delightful, soft, and buttery bread perfect for breakfast or as a side for any meal.

  • Total Time: 180 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup Milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 Large eggs
  • 1 Egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Stir these dry ingredients well to ensure even distribution.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warmed milk and eggs until fully blended.
  3. Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Gradually add the softened butter to the mixture, then knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  5. Cover the dough with plastic wrap or a towel and let it rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, which should take about 1 to 2 hours.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough to release any air bubbles and shape it into a loaf.
  7. Place the shaped dough into a greased loaf pan and cover it again. Allow it to rise for another 30 to 45 minutes until puffed.
  8. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Brush the top of the dough with a beaten egg for a beautiful golden crust.
  10. Bake the brioche for 30 to 35 minutes or until it is golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped.
  11. Let the loaf cool completely in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Allow enough time for the dough to rise fully for the best texture. Use almond milk for a dairy-free option.
