- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups Granulated sugar
- 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened
- 4 Large eggs
- 1 cup Milk
- 2 teaspoons Baking powder
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 2 cups Frosting (vanilla or chocolate)
- Sprinkles for decoration, as desired
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just blended.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Frost the tops of each layer with frosting and stack them, then frost the top and sides of the cake.
- Decorate with sprinkles and serve.
Notes
Use softened butter for easy creaming. For a nutty flavor, substitute almond milk for regular milk. Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting.
