Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
- In another bowl, combine the warmed milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Stir until well blended.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, about 5 minutes. Cover and let the dough rise until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
- Once doubled in size, roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut it into squares. Heat oil in a fryer or a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully fry the beignet squares until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels. Dust with powdered sugar while warm and serve immediately.
