- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, pureed
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three round cake pans.
- Sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Add in softened butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix to achieve a smooth batter.
- Divide the batter into three bowls; mix pureed strawberries into one bowl.
- Pour the batters into prepared pans starting with plain chocolate, vanilla, and then strawberry.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
- Frost with your favorite frosting between the layers and on top.
- Garnish with fresh strawberry slices before serving.
Notes
For variations, you can use raspberries or blueberries instead of strawberries. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
