Ingredients
Scale
- 6 regular-sized black tea bags (or 8 small)
- 8 cups (1.9 liters) fresh filtered water
- 3/4 to 1 cup (150-200 grams) granulated sugar
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices (optional)
- Fresh mint sprigs (optional)
Instructions
- Bring 8 cups of fresh filtered water to a near boil, about 200°F (93°C).
- Add 6 tea bags (or 8 small) to the hot water and stir gently, steeping for 5 minutes.
- Remove tea bags, pressing gently to extract extra flavor, then stir in sugar until dissolved.
- Let the tea cool to room temperature, about 20 to 30 minutes, or cool it faster using an ice-water bath.
- Transfer to a pitcher filled with ice cubes, optionally adding lemon and mint. Allow flavors to blend for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For best flavor, dissolve sugar in hot tea and consider adding fruits or alternative sweeteners for variations.
