A delightful blend of rich black tea and sugar, perfect for summer gatherings or a refreshing sip on the porch.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 8 cups 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 regular-sized black tea bags (or 8 small)
  • 8 cups (1.9 liters) fresh filtered water
  • 3/4 to 1 cup (150-200 grams) granulated sugar
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices (optional)
  • Fresh mint sprigs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring 8 cups of fresh filtered water to a near boil, about 200°F (93°C).
  2. Add 6 tea bags (or 8 small) to the hot water and stir gently, steeping for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove tea bags, pressing gently to extract extra flavor, then stir in sugar until dissolved.
  4. Let the tea cool to room temperature, about 20 to 30 minutes, or cool it faster using an ice-water bath.
  5. Transfer to a pitcher filled with ice cubes, optionally adding lemon and mint. Allow flavors to blend for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, dissolve sugar in hot tea and consider adding fruits or alternative sweeteners for variations.
