- 8 oz Elbow Macaroni
- 1/4 cup Butter
- 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
- 3 cups Milk
- 2 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese
- 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (optional)
- Salt (for boiling water) to taste
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook until al dente (about 7-8 minutes). Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 1/4 cup of butter. Stir in 1/4 cup of flour, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in 3 cups of milk while stirring. Cook until the sauce thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in sharp cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan until melted. Mix the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top if desired.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a healthier option, swap regular pasta for whole grain or use low-fat milk. You can also add jalapeños for spice or roasted veggies for extra nutrition.
