Ingredients
Scale
- 4 Large apples
- 1/4 cup Brown sugar
- 1/4 cup Granola
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/4 cup Raisins (optional)
- 1/4 cup Walnuts or pecans (optional)
- 1/4 cup Butter
- Vanilla ice cream (for serving) As desired
Instructions
- Start by coring the apples, taking care to leave the bottom intact to hold the filling. Slice them into sections about halfway down to create a blooming effect.
- In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, granola, cinnamon, raisins, and any nuts you’re using, stirring until well mixed.
- Fill each apple with the prepared mixture, ensuring to slightly pack it in so it holds together during cooking.
- Place the filled apples into the slow cooker and dot the tops with small pieces of butter for added richness.
- Cook on low for 120-180 minutes, or until the apples are tender but still hold their shape. If you like them softer, you can extend the cook time slightly.
- Serve the baked apples warm, ideally with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream on top to melt into the warm apples.
Notes
Don’t overfill the apples to prevent spilling. You can swap walnuts for pecans for a different flavor.
