- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder

- 1/2 cup granulated sugar

- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup cream cheese
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking dish with butter.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Stir well.
- In another large bowl, cream together sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add egg, buttermilk, red food coloring, and vanilla. Mix until combined.
- Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread butter over the dough, sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon, roll tightly, and slice into rolls.
- Place rolls in baking dish and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until slightly golden. For frosting, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Frost rolls once cooled.
Notes
Customize with nuts or chocolate chips if desired. Serve warm with seasonal berries or hot drinks.
