A delightful chocolate cake layered with luxurious chocolate ganache, perfect for any celebration.

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips (for ganache)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the unsalted butter and sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract; mix well.
  4. Sift together all dry ingredients and gradually add to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Divide the batter between prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Prepare the ganache by heating heavy cream and pouring it over chocolate chips; stir until smooth and let cool.
  9. Frost cooled cakes with ganache and enjoy!

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an elevated experience.
