Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about five minutes or until frothy.
  2. Add olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and Italian seasoning to the yeast mixture, and stir well.
  3. Gradually add flour to the mixture, mixing until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for about one hour, until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it on a greased baking sheet.
  6. Sprinkle the top with Parmesan cheese and parsley, then bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before slicing and serve warm.

Notes

For added nutrients, consider using whole wheat flour. To keep fresh, store in an airtight container at room temperature.
