- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon green food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, and vanilla extract until well blended.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined. Fold in the vinegar.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For extra fluffiness, add vinegar. Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
