A rich and gooey dessert that combines two classic favorites, chewy chocolate chip cookies and fudgy brownies, in one decadent treat.

FOR BROWNIE BATTER:

1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter

3/4 cup (135g) dark chocolate, chopped

1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar

1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

2/3 cup (85g) all-purpose flour

1/4 cup (25g) cocoa powder

1/2 tsp salt

FOR COOKIE DOUGH:

1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, room temp

1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar

1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 1/4 cup (160g) all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

3/4 cup (130g) chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the brownie batter: Melt butter and dark chocolate in a bowl over simmering water or microwave. Add both sugars, mix until dissolved. Whisk in eggs and vanilla. Sift in flour, cocoa, and salt. Fold gently to form a thick batter. Set aside.

  2. Prepare the cookie dough: Cream butter and sugars until light. Add egg and vanilla and beat well. Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt. Fold in chocolate chips. Do not overmix.

  3. Assemble the brookies: Grease and line an 8×8-inch pan. Spread brownie batter evenly. Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the top and gently spread or flatten with a spatula.

  4. Bake: Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes. The center should be slightly soft. Cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

Do not overbake to retain fudgy texture. For cleaner cuts, chill the brookies before slicing. Use high-quality chocolate for best results.
