Delicious Stuffed Shells

A comforting Italian-American dish of pasta shells filled with a creamy cheese mixture, topped with marinara sauce and baked until golden.

Ingredients

  • 20 large pasta shells
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, basil, salt, and pepper until creamy.
  4. Stuff each pasta shell with the cheese mixture.
  5. Spread half of the marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Place stuffed shells in the dish and top with remaining marinara sauce and additional mozzarella if desired.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbling and golden.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Taste your filling before stuffing to adjust seasonings. You can freeze extra shells; just layer them with parchment paper.
