Indulge in a luxurious breakfast with this crème brûlée French toast casserole, perfect for special occasions or weekend brunch.

  • Total Time: 65 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups Challah or brioche bread, cubed
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
  • Fresh berries for topping, as desired

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  2. Fold the cubed bread into the custard mixture, gently stirring to ensure each piece gets soaked. Allow the bread to absorb the custard for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Pour half of the caramel sauce into a greased casserole dish, spread it evenly on the bottom, then layer the soaked bread mixture on top and drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over it.
  4. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the casserole uncovered for about 45-50 minutes until the top is golden and slightly crispy.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving warm topped with fresh berries.

Notes

Feel free to customize this dish with chocolate chips, nuts, or spices like cinnamon for added flavor. Pair with coffee or a light fruit salad for a complete brunch experience.
