- 1 cup grits
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 cups water or chicken broth
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, bring 4 cups of water or chicken broth to a boil.
- Slowly whisk in 1 cup of grits, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Reduce the heat to low and allow the grits to simmer for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of butter and 1/2 cup of heavy cream until melted and mixed.
- Add salt to taste and serve hot with your choice of toppings.
Notes
Serve with sautéed shrimp, cheese, or roasted vegetables for added flavor.
