A comforting Southern dish of creamy grits, perfect for brunch or dinner with various topping options.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup grits
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 cups water or chicken broth
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, bring 4 cups of water or chicken broth to a boil.
  2. Slowly whisk in 1 cup of grits, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and allow the grits to simmer for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in 2 tablespoons of butter and 1/2 cup of heavy cream until melted and mixed.
  5. Add salt to taste and serve hot with your choice of toppings.
