- 1 cup whole milk
- 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour (sifted)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Start by placing 1 cup of whole milk into a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in 5 tablespoons of sifted all-purpose flour until smooth. Stir continuously for about 3-5 minutes until thick.
- Once cooled, cream 1 cup of softened butter with 1 cup of packed light brown sugar for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Add the cooled milk mixture to the creamed butter and sugar. Beat on medium-high speed for 2-3 minutes until fluffy. Switch to a whisk attachment and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, whisking for an additional 7-8 minutes until smooth and creamy.
Notes
If the frosting is too thick, add a splash of milk until the desired consistency is reached.
