Ingredients

  • 1 cup tapioca pearls
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cups brewed black tea
  • 1 cup milk or non-dairy alternative
  • 2-4 tablespoons sugar (to taste)
  • Ice cubes (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Boil the 4 cups of water in a pot until bubbling.
  2. Add the 1 cup of tapioca pearls and cook according to package instructions (usually 5 to 10 minutes) until soft and chewy.
  3. Rinse the pearls under cold water and drain them.
  4. Brew 2 cups of black tea in a separate pot and let it cool slightly.
  5. In a glass or shaker, combine the brewed tea, 1 cup of milk, and 2 to 4 tablespoons of sugar. Stir well until sugar dissolves.
  6. Add the cooked tapioca pearls to the glass, then pour the milk-tea mixture over the top.

Notes

For a lactose-free version, substitute regular milk with almond or soy milk. Experiment with flavors by infusing brewed tea with mint, vanilla, or seasonal syrups.
