Ingredients

- 4 large onions
- 4 cups water
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh herbs (optional) to taste
Instructions
- Fill a large pot with 4 cups of water and add salt. Bring to a vigorous boil over medium-high heat.
- Peel the onions and trim off the ends.
- Carefully add the onions to the boiling water. Reduce heat to medium and let simmer for about 30 minutes until tender.
- Remove onions using tongs and allow to cool slightly. Drizzle with olive oil and season with black pepper. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
This dish pairs well with roasted vegetables and can be made ahead of time. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
