Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups cherries, prepared
  • ¾ cup cherry syrup
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup dark chocolate shavings
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts or hazelnuts

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chocolate cake by cutting it into small, bite-sized cubes.
  2. Prepare cherries by pitting and slicing them if fresh, or draining if canned. Reserve syrup for later layers.
  3. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla. Whip until stiff peaks form.
  4. Assemble the trifle by layering chocolate cake cubes, drizzling with cherry syrup, adding cherries, and topping with whipped cream. Repeat layers, finishing with whipped cream and sprinkling chocolate shavings and nuts on top.
