- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 cup fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1 cup Gruyere cheese, grated
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and fit it into a tart pan, pricking the bottom with a fork.
- Whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
- Sprinkle the grated Gruyere cheese evenly over the pastry base.
- Arrange the asparagus pieces on top of the cheese.
- Pour the egg mixture over the asparagus and cheese.
- Bake the tart in the preheated oven for about 25 to 30 minutes.
- Let the tart cool slightly before serving and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
Make sure the puff pastry is well chilled before baking. For a sharper flavor, substitute Gruyere with cheddar cheese.
